The one where the papoose

turns two today!  Happy birthday sweet Susannah, can’t wait to see you and celebrate more this weekend!  You’re growing up much too fast for me!

The one where I found

a pinafore that I had cross stitched years ago for my daughter and had completely forgotten about.  I suppose I had given it to my mom for her to store in her cedar chest or something.  Anyway, like I said, I had completely forgotten about it; but immediately remembered it when I unearthed it going through things at my mom and dad’s house.  I brought it home, gave it a gentle wash and iron and here it is:

Here’s a little more detail –

I’ll cross stitch Susannah’s name underneath her mama’s name to pass it down, then when it’s Harper’s turn, I’ll add her name, starting the tradition of handing it down through the baby girls in the family.  Now, I have to come up with a tradition for the little boys who come along, all in the spirit of even handedness.  Any ideas?

The one where the Leaf

Lace Socks are ongoing and are my WIP again for this week.  See?

One more repeat of the pattern for the leg, then on to the heel flap!

Please excuse, I need a poor little me moment.  Started with a sore tooth yesterday and this morning got up with a chipmunk cheek on the left and more pain.  Will call dentist as soon as his office opens today.  Oh, you poor baby!  There, I feel better.

The one where we step

outside the box a little today.  We went to Mass with Babydaddy and Babymama and Harper this morning.  Been a long time since I sat through a service and I got a little squirmy, but my heart felt nourished, it was good.  We had lunch with Babymama and Babydaddy, not so relaxing, Harper wasn’t a happy camper for most of the time, but it didn’t help that the service was soooooooooo slowwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.  Two hours from the time we sat down to the time we settled up our check.  Usually, Mr. Iknead and I would have been history had we been by ourselves, but when you’re with a group, it’s more difficult.  At least I was on my best behavior and didn’t get too bent out of shape.  Maybe the Mass was working or something.

Here’s the official first half of the Leaf Lace Socks and the beginning of the second:ial

I have no idea why I can’t rotate these pics, but in the grand scheme of things, meh.

The one where I’m sure that everyone

is suffering from an overdose of my precious granddaughters, but here’s one I couldn’t not share.

How sweet is her tutu?  It was a baby shower gift and of course, I had to reverse engineer it immediately and am planning a run to Hobby Lobby to procure materials for it, for a pearl and twine bracelet I saw on Pinterest, with a quick run down the yarn aisle just to see if anything new is there, then then maybe a basket or three, and don’t forget to look for sheep related doodads and ……………….. you get the picture, don’t you.  Yes, I do love Hobby Lobby, why oh why would you ask?

Mr. Iknead and I are back home from our field trip to DeQueen and thankfully have finished the packing and moving of my mom and dad’s things since their house has been sold and we are to close on 05/02.  Other than a small meltdown Tuesday morning with some tears and sniffling every once in a while, it went very smoothly and wasn’t at all as traumatic as I thought it would be.  I think though that I really started letting go when Daddy died last July, home is supposed to be where your loved ones are and after he passed away, well, it just didn’t feel like home.  We moved my mom here to Little Rock last August so there really hasn’t been anything keeping me rooted to my hometown for quite a while.

I have no new Susannah pictures at the moment, guess I’ll have to check Lindsey’s facebook to get some new ones.  Have I mentioned that she’s talking up a storm and that she repeats everything she hears?  When she says Bebe (that’s what she calls me), I crumble.  Her second birthday is coming up May 15, can’t believe it’s been two years and now we’re looking forward to October for her new brother or sister.  My life is excellent!

The one where I reached grandma

nirvana these past few days.  Mr. Iknead and I had both our grandbabies over the weekend.  The Papoose is fascinated with Baby Harper; she was very nurturing (for an almost two year old), wanted to hold her and help change her, it was really sweet.  Now, how it’s going to be when her new brother or sister comes along in October we don’t know, hopefully she’ll be at least a little accustomed to having a baby around.

The one where I’m back

at work after being off sick for two weeks. I’ve never, ever been away from work for this long, except for maternity leave many, many, many moons ago. Overall, I’m glad to be back, I mean, really, how much Martha Stewart and Paula Deen can one take? The cause of this unintentional “vacation” was a bad flare of my ischemic colitis, the worst ever. This has been a chronic thing for me, but it’s becoming more and more difficult for me to manage and it’s been taking me a lot longer to bounce back when I do have an attack. But, I’m feeling better, am back at work, and am going to try to take an easy walk when I get home. Looking forward to that.

A couple of hours later….I got an easy 45 minute walk in after work, it felt terrific. I think I’m hooked on endorphins, I can definitely tell a difference in my mood/attitude for the better when I get some exercise.

Here’s a look at my two precious baby girls together for the first time –

Susannah and Harper getting acquainted. This picture makes my heart sing.

The one where the baby watch

To say that the past week has been over the top excitement wise would be putting it lightly. Baby Harper arrived
At 3:30 pm Thursday, 3-29-11, weighing in at 7 lbs. 1 oz. and 19 1/2 in. She gave us quite a scare, dropping her heart rate and was delivered thru emergency c-section. Beautiful and pink and screaming her head off. Baby mama and baby are fine, learning their way around breast feeding and learning the magic of sleep for baby mama and baby daddy. So, it’s all good, right?

Now the second part of the excitement:
Saturday morning, I had a severe flare of an old problem. I have ischemic colitis and got really sick really fast so I got an up close and personal view of the inside of an ambulance. I’m in the hospital still, on full colon rest (for the uninitiated, that means nothing to eat or drink – 5 days now) but the good news is that I get to keep me colon for now. Like I said – it’s all good!

Sorry no baby pics, posting from my iPhone. I’ll get baby daddy to post when he comes to see me today.

It’s all good.

The one where the wait

goes on for Baby Harper.  DDIL (Babymama) has an appointment at 3:30 this afternoon with her OB and I’m thinking Baby Harper will be here by Friday, at the latest.  (Insert Carly Simon’s Anticipation here.)  Wow, that just dated me big time.  I don’t care, I’m a 55 year old grandma and proud of it!  Really liking grandma thing, gotta admit.

See you soon Baby Harper!

The one where we continue to stand

baby watch.  Every morning I say to myself, “Today’s the day, I’m sure of it” and then every night I tell myself, “It’s going to happen tonight, I just know it”.  But Mr. Iknead and I, not to mention Babymama and Babydaddy, are getting so excited, it’s hard to think about anything else.  All in good time, I know.

I tried out a new recipe Sunday from my new Sarabeth’s Bakery cookbook, Maple Walnut Muffins, and my official taste testers (really just whoever I can capture at that moment) give it a resounding thumbs up.  Very tasty, not too sweet.  A success.  Here’s a pic of one of the muffins with my current WIP sock sharing the stage-
