Chicken in jumpers

I love this!

Knittingburg

Our local BBC news had a story on the chickens at Raystede animal centre today and I’ve spotted one of the chickens wearing one of my jumpers! Yay! Here she is, the gorgeous girl. Mine is the one with the heart on it. Excuse not too great quality of the pictures, they are just print screens of the news story.

Chicken Jumper

I think this is the coolest thing!

Knittingburg

So today morning I am sitting and knitting when my mum rings on Skype.

She asks: what are you knitting?

I say: hmmm, a chicken jumper…

mum: what????

now my dad comes by to say hello. Mum says to him, hey guess what your daughter is knitting, I am betting you a bottle of Whiskey you won’t guess. Dad ventured a guess of a tea cosy. Mum happily exclaimed: “Wrong! A chicken jumper!” All my dad could say was “crazy” with a shake of a head and walked away.

But yeah, that is what I am knitting, a chicken jumper. My most favourite animal rescue centre, Raystede gave a shout out yesterday on Facebook asking for chicken jumpers for the newly rescued 260 ex-battery hens. They also put up a link to a pattern. It only took me an evening to knit one jumper and I’ve done the finishing work…

Book To Art?

Iknead2knit.com is up, sooner than I’d dreamed!  It’s not perfect and certainly not in its final form; as usual, I’m figuring things out as I go along.  My very first post on my very first website is here.  I hope you enjoy it.

I plan to keep the old faithful wordpress.com blog going for a while, linking to the new site, until we’re all comfy cozy with the change.  I hope you approve.

Heads Up!, BFF

BOLO

After months of “can I?”, “should I?”, “but I know next to nothing about”, “this makes me nervous”, “I’m definitely doing it!”, “maybe I should stick with what I know” and finally, “no guts, no glory”, I did it.  I have a website!  I do!  Mine!  Nothing much is going to change, it’s going to look different (I’ve been toying with the idea of changing the look of my blog for a while) and I’ll have a lot more options available, like using Javascript or HTML to add things I want my blog to contain, more storage, more security and since it’s my site, I’m the boss.

Since I know next to nothing or less about computers and codes and stuff, I decided to use Godaddy.com for site management, handling backup, security, updates, all the stuff that goes into maintaining a website.  I get to do all of the blogging fun stuff, I suppose it’s one of those “all of the pleasure, none of the guilt” things.

I’m hoping to go live with iknead2knit.com on Monday, 1/26/15 and plan on keeping iknead2knit.wordpress.com going for a little while, probably  mostly with links to the new site, hoping to make an easy transition.  As always, I’m always open to suggestions; I know there are a lot of bloggers who are old hands at this website stuff, and any tricks or tips will be appreciated.

GRAND ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT

Up until the last month or so, the grands and Josie the Pug weren’t a good mix.  Not because she doesn’t like kids- she LOVES them- but her being who she is, a lot of dog in a small body, and very exuberant, with lots of snorting, the littles were intimidated, shrieking and running whenever she got a little too close.  This was more than a little upsetting for Mr. iknead and me, having to keep Josie and the grands separated, usually with Josie having to be either in her kennel, in another room or boarded.  So hard!  Anyhow, all this changed over the last month or so and now, the Papoose, the Sprout and Josie are the biggest, bestest friends forever!  Yeah, Mr. iknead and I are pretty much over the moon about it.  Look.

How bout that!  Heaven for us all!

The trick is in what one emphasizes.  We either make ourselves miserable or we make ourselves happy.  The amount of work is the same.  Carlos Castaneda

Whatcha Workin’ On? #9, Booklove 1/21/15, myPod

ON MY NEEDLES

Nothing current, but I plan to change that very soon, like within the next hour or so.  Yep, you heard it first from me, Tulips are finished, but you’ll have to tune in again on Friday to see the finished product.  Mark your calendar.  📅😉

SAY IT AIN’T SO

My close to constant companion for the past several years (besides Mr. iknead), my trusty 160 gig iPod Classic fell ill the end of last week.  😱😭💔  It hasn’t been diagnosed as terminal – yet.  Both Mr. iknead and I tried about a 1000 times over the next two days to resuscitate it with no success and I finally gave up and took it to You Break I Fix on Sunday afternoon for a diagnosis.  I’m not handling it well.  Seriously.  I wish I was kidding.  Here’s why it’s been traumatic:  Apple discontinued the 160 gig Classic in 2009; this means that to fit all my data, I’ll need to buy five new iPods.  That’s what I said, FIVE new iPods to house the 2000 or so songs and a couple hundred audiobooks.  The guy at the repair shop seemed to think it could be fixed, I hope he’s right.

BOOKLOVE

I’m excited about starting My Antonia.  I’m really kind of surprised I’ve never read it before.  Once again, my library rocks!

I’m linking with Yarn Along and Frontier Dreams today.

Whatcha Workin’ On Wednesday #8, Booklove, You Just Keep Me Hanging On

ON MY NEEDLES

The second Tulip is ready for the heel and so am I.  I have raging sock envy, seeing so many amazing sock projects other knitters are working on. This happens on every project, the bright “new” wears off whatever I’m working on and my head is turned by other, “shinier” yarns and patterns.  The only thing keeping me from having an untold number of unfinished second socks is my obsession with finishing whatever I start, which can be a good thing or a bad thing, depending upon which side of the obsessive fence you happen to stand on.

PAGES

So many books!  Here’s what I’m reading:

I’ll Drink to That by Betty Halbreich

Counting by 7s by Holly Goldberg Sloan

Strange Piece of Paradise by Terri Kentz

The Alienist by Caleb Carr

Genius on the Edge By Gerald Imber

I don’t know if I’ll finish all of these, I’m as easily distracted by new books as I am by new knitting.

THE BUG

Whatever respiratory bug that’s been bugging me is hopefully on its way out, with the cough hanging on.  I’m just glad to be feeling better.  Babydiva has had the same bug at the same time, glad she’s on the mend too.

I’m linking with Ginny’s Yarn Along and Frontier Dreams today, don’t forget to visit!
