The one where the Coupling

socks are the FO Friday offering.

I think they turned out really well and so am again in search of the perfect yarn and perfect sock pattern.

The one where she hopes

this is the last WIP Wednesday for the Coupling Socks.  I might even go for a FO Friday, who knows?

The one where the Easter

bunny has come and gone, the Papoose got some really great swag and I, for one, have eaten my weight in chocolate Easter eggs.  I’ll pay for that little adventure later, I’m sure.  We had a wonderful, joyous weekend, laughing and all talking at once, cruising that sugar high.  I’m blessed with family.

Here’s Susannah in her Easter frock before  church.

And after

As for knitting, excellent progress was made on both the Brittany Jumper and the Coupling socks, with the socks lacking just the ribbing up top.  The Jumper lacks about an inch and a half more skirt before starting the bodice.  Pictures sometime this week, just when, I don’t know.

I’m glad to be back in my own nest tonight.

The one where it felt like

her day was never going to end.   I’ve had to be in a meeting for work starting at 9 a.m. yesterday, was there from 7:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. today and have to be back tomorrow a.m. at 7:30.  For someone who has a real problem sitting still for any length of time over about 30 minutes, every minute feels like an hour.  I usually knit to help me focus and not crawl out of my skin but not this time.  My boss understands this and it’s no big deal, but others, not so much.  It’s been a long, long two days.

Coupling socks nearly finished, but not in time for FO Friday.  Dang.

Without a doubt, this is the absolutely worst of the worst of all the pics I’ve ever made but I’m worn out and just don’t feel like retaking it.  So, I apologize.

The one where a sense

of putting down a burden, a not so heavy burden but a burden nonetheless, is a welcome relief.  My father came to LR yesterday and I went with him to see his cardiologist (he has a pacemaker) and besides needing to have the battery replaced sometime this summer, everything checked out.  What makes this situation a little more difficult is that he lives in a small town, about three hours away from Little Rock.  I was able a year or so ago to convince him that his just hopping in the car and bringing himself to his appointment was really not a great option, he’s 82, with arthritic joints, eyesight that’s not terrible, but not as good as it was and a very low freak out threshold.  So, Mr. Iknead and I have to go down and pick him up, coordinate schedules and be available to be his wheels while he’s here.  It’s really just an inconvenience that happens a couple of times a year, but I always feel relieved when he’s finished with everything and is safely back home.  Mr. Iknead drove him home this time, it’s a six hour round trip and he’ll never know how much this means to me.  Mr. Iknead rocks!!  Did I mention that my Mom is in a nursing home with dementia?  He’s always in a hurry to get back home, it’s hard for him to be away and she doesn’t understand why he’s not visiting.

The upside is that waiting rooms are perfect for working on a small project, keeps my mind focused and helps me with the antsy feelings that always come around when I have to sit and wait.  The Coupling socks were the happy recipient of my (sort of) undivided attention today.  Here’s where we stand at this moment –

I’m lacking in photo skills I think so I’m going to dig up the instruction book and hone the few skills I have.

The one where I learn

something special about today:  It’s the Persian New Year; Happy New Year everyone!  Dr. B, a dentist where I work, hands out $2 bills on the New Year, for good luck.  You save them for good luck throughout the year.  Interesting, huh?

My new sock project is decided upon and I have now moved on to the yarn decision.  It’s so hard to choose between yarns, kind of like trying to choose between your kids.  Each one has something special to offer, I think.  It’s Coupling, from Knitty Summer 07 issue.

Here’s what I decided yarn-wise

The one where her FO

Friday offering is actually ready before FO Friday arrives.  I finished the Catnip Socks on Monday and have been anticipating posting them today.  Take a look, please –

the heel turn on the Catnip Socks.  Seriously, this is the most exciting thing that’s happened to me all day.  I do have big plans for tomorrow though, a trip to Yarn Mart to spend the birthday money that’s burning a hole in my pocket.  I’m thinking some nice Shibui.  If I have any money left (I won’t) maybe shoe shopping (I will).

I do have an update on my En Pointe sweater, the front is about half done –

The one where her frustration with

computers overwhelms her and no amount of swearing or sweating will make it cooperate.  This means the new, wonderful pictures of the Papoose in her Pinafore Dress won’t get posted today.

On a happier note, the Catnip Socks are really coming along nicely.  When I slipped them on earlier today, the stitch pattern really stood out.  I’m really happy with them and the Araucania yarn.  This picture is horrid and I apologize ahead of time for my gnarly feet –

the age old question:  “Is it my destiny to always have at last two false starts before I settle into a sock pattern?”  Just asking……

I think I got smacked with the dummy stick between last night and now.  I just noticed about five minutes ago that the entry I worked so hard on yesterday was still in draft form, that’s right, folks, typed it, proofed it but didn’t bother to publish it.  So, the upshot of this is that today, there are two, count ’em, two entries today.  Jeez, sometimes I worry about myself :p
