The one where the day gets

away from her.  I’ve been fooling around getting pictures loaded onto Flickr, culling out, deciding what needs to go where and all that stuff, but what I really want to do tonight is show and tell my newest yarn acquisitions.  Look!  This is Colinette Jitterbug, colorway Ruby Saffron, #92, 400 yd., 150 g.

Next up is Colinette Jitterbug, colorway paintbox, #152, 400 yd., 150 g.

When I went into Yarn Mart today, Cindy was sweet enough to give me a preview of the new Jitterbug and of course, since self control is not part of my personality, these two came home with me.  They’re having an anniversary sale tomorrow and I have my eye on some Shibui.  Gotta love Cindy and YM, they rock!

I have more goodies to share, but they’ll have to wait until tomorrow.  I’m up past my bedtime.  Yawn.

May your walls know joy; May every room hold laughter and every window open to great possibility.  Maryanne Radmacher-Hershey

the heel turn on the Catnip Socks.  Seriously, this is the most exciting thing that’s happened to me all day.  I do have big plans for tomorrow though, a trip to Yarn Mart to spend the birthday money that’s burning a hole in my pocket.  I’m thinking some nice Shibui.  If I have any money left (I won’t) maybe shoe shopping (I will).

I do have an update on my En Pointe sweater, the front is about half done –

The one where she has a burning

desire to learn pottery making.  I’ve always thought it would be really cool to know how to throw pots (I think that’s what it’s called) so I started doing a little research online about classes and lo and behold, the Arkansas Art Center here in Little Rock has classes for just about every art form known to man.  OK, maybe not every art form, I made that up, but they offer a lot of different stuff, painting, pottery, photography and a few things I’ve never heard of.  I never knew how much of a tactile person I am until I started knitting, I love using my hands to create and learn about things.  I’m going for it!

I wind up my work week tomorrow and not a moment too soon.  I’ve felt really tired this week, I think mostly because of my trip to DeQueen last weekend.  I started stressing about it a week beforehand and that, on top of being really busy at work, just wrung me out.  Today was the first day in a couple of weeks that I felt normal, not stressed and not overtired.  I’m too young to feel that old!

Isn’t this amaryllis gorgeous?  DD Lindsey got it three years ago and it’s bloomed every year.  I wish I had a green thumb like she does but that’s what keeps life interesting, different gifts, different people, right?

The one where the frustration

of last night has faded and I’m able to post the Papoose in the Pinafore Dress.  So sweet!

How cute is that?

I can’t stand it!!!!  She and the Pinafore Dress were made for each other.  OMG!  It turned out so well I ordered two more Minnowknits patterns, the Brittany Jumper and Cotton Candy.  These will necessitate several visits to Yarn Mart.  No firm color decisions yet, but I’m leaning toward pinkish.

I’m baking this weekend, no matter what.  It’s been a couple of weeks and I’m starting to have flour withdrawal.  Maybe brownies, sourdough bread for sure.

The one where her frustration with

computers overwhelms her and no amount of swearing or sweating will make it cooperate.  This means the new, wonderful pictures of the Papoose in her Pinafore Dress won’t get posted today.

On a happier note, the Catnip Socks are really coming along nicely.  When I slipped them on earlier today, the stitch pattern really stood out.  I’m really happy with them and the Araucania yarn.  This picture is horrid and I apologize ahead of time for my gnarly feet –

The one where she wonders

when bad manners totally fell by the wayside and rudeness took over?  Have the people who influence the next generation completely given up and walked away from the opportunity to make changes in society from the ground up?  Here’s what set me off –

My cell phone rings, I can’t get to it fast enough to answer, but I don’t recognize the number, so it’s immediately off my mental radar.  A few minutes later, it rings again, from the same number and this is what I hear, “Who’s this?”  OK, admittedly this is a pet peeve of mine, so I ask back “Who’s this?  You called me”.  Pause on their end, and again, “Who’s this?”  Again, from me, in firmer voice, “Who’s this?  You called me”.  Another long pause and a hang up.  No call back, maybe they looked up the number.  In the grand scheme of things, this is decidedly not a big deal, but would it kill us (me included) to be a little gentler with each other?  While we’re on sort of the same subject, can someone please tell me when the word bitch became a term of endearment?  Alrighty then (mentally brushing myself off).

I finally got started cleaning the hoosier cabinet that’s been living in my garage for what seems like an age.  Guess what?  The color I totally thought it was, sort of a goldy-antiquey-brownish is just years of cooking grease and just plain old dirt.  It’s really a nice cream color underneath.  Here’s a look

Yuk.  It’s going to take a lot of Krud Kutter and elbow grease but it’ll happen.  It’ll take some time, but it’ll happen.

The one where she’s back from the wilds

of southwest Arkansas, otherwise known as DeQueen, my hometown, where there are lots of chickens, lots of pickup trucks and lots of not much else.  Wireless Internet access is very spotty, if it exists at all, so no blog yesterday.  Today is a catch up, I suppose.

Remember the Minnowknits Pinafore?  Take a look at this –

The one where the work

week is finally over and I’m psyching myself up to go down to visit my parents tomorrow.  I’m ready to get it over with.  I feel really horrible about that, how I feel, but it is what it is.  Since my mom has been in a nursing home for the past year of so, Daddy has done such a good job of shutting everyone out (including me) that could be of help and support, it’s very difficult emotionally for me to see how he’s deteriorating physically and mentally. He’s in his 80s for heaven’s sake and spends about 18 hours a day at the NH, just sitting there, trying to take care of her.  He’s quit buying food because “he eats all his meals at the NH”.  He’s skin and bones and can hardly get around.  The last time I (we – meaning me and Mr. Iknead) tried to talk to him about possibly looking into them relocating closer to Little Rock, he and I got into a screaming match and I promised myself that I was done with trying to help; I have to keep reminding myself that he is choosing to live this way, I hate it but have to live with it.  Did I mention that I’m an only child?  I am.

Enough already.  I’m going to work on En Pointe.  This is what I have so far:

The one where she asks

the age old question:  “Is it my destiny to always have at last two false starts before I settle into a sock pattern?”  Just asking……

I think I got smacked with the dummy stick between last night and now.  I just noticed about five minutes ago that the entry I worked so hard on yesterday was still in draft form, that’s right, folks, typed it, proofed it but didn’t bother to publish it.  So, the upshot of this is that today, there are two, count ’em, two entries today.  Jeez, sometimes I worry about myself :p

The one where two new

projects get posted, the En Point sweater from Interweave Knits and Swirl Socks in Araucania Yarns, Ranco Multy.  I’ve not knitted near as much I wanted to this weekend, but that’s pretty typical for me.  My reach far exceeds my grasp and so much yarn, so little time and all that.  Here’s a peek at both of them –
