How Hot Is It??

It’s so hot that even thinking of working with wool yarn makes me break into a sweat, even with the thermostat is set on Arctic Circle and the ceiling fans are set to airplane propeller speed.  All my knitting WIPs that are wooly are on hold for now.  I can’t work up any enthusiasm in my pottery studio either, trying to get caught up on glazing and firing at 3 a.m. when it’s at least bearable to be in the garage/studio.  🥵🥵🥵

Still and all, I feel blessed – me and mine are all happy and healthy, the Bangkok bunch got back home to America to stay after five years of perpetual summer without hitch one, self quarantined for two weeks and came out the other side still healthy and still happy.  God is good.

The photo I planned to post is missing in action, but I came across one taken a couple of winters ago and is something to look forward to………

Mixed Media Monday 12/8/14

MY OWN MIXED MEDIA (MOMM)

I’m so happy and excited to have started my new Dylusions art journal.  After using an spiral notebook with lined, not mixed media or watercolor paper, the mixed media paper is such a treat!  Not having to prep my pages with gesso before starting work is awesome – more spontaneous I suppose.  I love everything about this journal!  Here are the first two projects:

Stacked Birds

Book paper, Distress stains mustard seed and crushed olive, blue jean and barn door

Doodle–>ribbons–>tree

pitt pen, assorted gel pens

This particular journal is the smallest one, the pages measure 5×8 inches.  I have the larger one also, I plan to get started painting the cover sometime this week.  The first cover was just a warm-up! 🎨😺  Blank pages are sooooooo exciting!

The dream is over…

Door Love! What the Heck Is a NuRoo???

I AM SO FENG SHUI

Remember my purple door wish???  It came true today!  Is this amazing or what?  If you missed the original post, you can read about it here.

I love it!

REALLY….

Babymama and I took a field trip to BabiesRUs earlier this week to check out something called a NuRoo, a shirt/baby sling thing, which is not a new idea, moms have used these in some form or fashion for thousands of years.  Everything old is new again as they say.

BOOKLOVE

I finished The Girl Who Fell From the Sky and it was amazing! I couldn’t put it down. Two thumbs up!

Babydiva turned two today.  It seems I turned around and suddenly, she’s walking and talking a blue streak, always a jump ahead.

WIP Wednesday 7/17/13, Doing the Herb

ON THE NEEDLES

Mr. Iknead’s socks continue to grow.  The first of the pair is finished, and the second maybe 2/3 finished.  My goal is to have them done in time for FO Friday.  I’ve said that before and been defeated, but hope springs eternal and all that.

THE HERB

I noticed yesterday that my basil was beginning to flower and that means it needed to be harvested quickly if I’m to have more basil this summer.  I was going to dry it, but learned that because basil has a high water content, it does better when frozen than when dried.  Learn something new every day, I do.

That’s plain basil on the left, lime basil on the right

My kitchen smells HEAVENLY!

BY THE BOOK

I’m nearly through with Joyland and have enjoyed it immensely, wishing sometimes that there were just a couple more hours in the day, like 26 or 27 instead of just 24, just so I could squeeze in a little more of my favorite pastimes.  (I think I just heard a few moms of toddlers groan.)  I also checked out a couple of library books on spinning and knitting; the pictures are lovely, I may never get to the text!

I’m linking up today with Tami, Ginny’s Yarn Along and Frontier Dreams KCCO.  Don’t forget to visit these awesome blogs!

WIP Wednesday 05/08/13 Short n Sweet

ON THE NEEDLES

I think I have more WIPs than I ever have, due to a terminal case of startitis over the past month or so.  I’ve been working steadily on each of them and so far project boredom hasn’t set in, which is a good thing, because that’s how my startitis starts.  So, here they are, in no particular order:

Crocus Vernus Socks from Knitter’s Curiosity Cabinet

The yarn is a mystery Shibui Sock that I discovered in the sale bin at Yarn Mart.  I think it’s perfect, don’t you?

Sunday Swing Socks

These are also knitted using Shibui Sock, colorway Poodle Skirt and are sharing the stage with Stephanie Pearl-McPhee‘s newest book.  I’m linking up with Ginny’s Yarn Along this week, so don’t forget to drop by and check out more projects and current reads.

Last, but certainly not least, is a simple, top down sweater I’m calling Karma as it started out as the Imagine Sweater, morphed into the Yarn Formerly Known As Sweater and is now born again.  Instant Karma, anyone??

Don’t forget to check out Ginny’s Yarn Along and Tami Ami’s WIP Wednesday blog.
