WIP Wednesday 7/23/14, How Cool Is This?, Booklove

ON THE NEEDLES

The Liesl Sweater is coming along nicely, I love patterns that move along faster and faster the closer to one gets to the finish.  When the first line of a pattern directs you to cast on 276 stitches, I know I’m in for a long haul to the finish.  I have to REALLY love the finished product for that first line not to faze me.  That describes Liesl.

Oh, by the way, that odd sort of flappy thing in the middle? It’s a pocket and there’s another one on the other side.

BROWN NO MORE

When I inherited Mr. IKnead’s iPad, I also inherited the case.  Absolutely nothing wrong with it – except for the color.  Don’t misunderstand me – I love brown, look at Liesl up there. Brown is good, the color of coffee and chocolate, after all, but the brown cover just wasn’t doing it for me.  So, I changed it.  There’s a little of everything, inks, stamps, stencils and acrylic paint.  I love the way it turned out.  Take a look for yourself.

The Outside

The Inside

Am I finished?  I haven’t decided.  I went ahead and sprayed it with Krylon Kamar Fixative since some of the inks I used are waterbased and will run/spread with direct contact with liquid; going ahead with the fixative may have made my decision for me, if it can’t be painted or inked after the Krylon has been applied.

BOOKLOVE

I’m rereading Joe Hill’s NOS4A2 and it’s just as creepy as it was the first time around.

I’m linking with the usual Wednesday folks, Tami, Ginny and Frontier Dreams.

SWAP

The Iknead iPad swap is complete and both of us are well satisfied.

I took possession of his old one and both of us are busy learning the ins and outs of our newest gadgets.

LUCKY FOR HER

Yesterday, while I was happily spinning away, I looked into the hallway and saw that Josie was very busy trying to “kill” what I thought was one of her toys.  She loves squishy and has a toy box full of assorted soft, floppy toys.  On closer inspection, it wasn’t a toy at all, it was MY IN-PROGRESS HITCHHIKER SHAWL!!!!!!  I whipped out my phone to take a pic to post to Dogshaming; she wasn’t even ashamed enough to stick around for the photo.  That’s a Pug for you.  Luckily, no damage was done, except for pulling a bit of the yarn off the skein, it does have a whiff of Josie drool, but a little airing should take care of that.

My week 17 completed project for The Documented Life.  This challenge was to draw or photograph my favorite pair of shoes.

Spinning Sunday

WHAT’S NEW?

Hurray!  It’s here!  With our tax refund this year Mr. Iknead and I gifted ourselves with some things we’d been pining after for a while.  I gave myself an Ashford blending board and on my first trial run, I could see.what a difference using it is going to make in my spinning adventures.  Mr. Iknead has chosen to go with upgrading to an iPad Air.  Can you guess what this means?  It means that I’m getting his old iPad and my blending board!  Two happys at once!  I love it!
