The one where she’s back from the wilds

of southwest Arkansas, otherwise known as DeQueen, my hometown, where there are lots of chickens, lots of pickup trucks and lots of not much else.  Wireless Internet access is very spotty, if it exists at all, so no blog yesterday.  Today is a catch up, I suppose.

Remember the Minnowknits Pinafore?  Take a look at this –

The one where the work

week is finally over and I’m psyching myself up to go down to visit my parents tomorrow.  I’m ready to get it over with.  I feel really horrible about that, how I feel, but it is what it is.  Since my mom has been in a nursing home for the past year of so, Daddy has done such a good job of shutting everyone out (including me) that could be of help and support, it’s very difficult emotionally for me to see how he’s deteriorating physically and mentally. He’s in his 80s for heaven’s sake and spends about 18 hours a day at the NH, just sitting there, trying to take care of her.  He’s quit buying food because “he eats all his meals at the NH”.  He’s skin and bones and can hardly get around.  The last time I (we – meaning me and Mr. Iknead) tried to talk to him about possibly looking into them relocating closer to Little Rock, he and I got into a screaming match and I promised myself that I was done with trying to help; I have to keep reminding myself that he is choosing to live this way, I hate it but have to live with it.  Did I mention that I’m an only child?  I am.

Enough already.  I’m going to work on En Pointe.  This is what I have so far:

her newest WIP Wednesday offering, Wendy D. Johnson’s Catnip Socks in Araucania Ranco Multy. Terrible picture, TAAT socks just starting out look weird, I think, but here they are anyway.  Josie and the Catnip Socks

The one where she asks

the age old question:  “Is it my destiny to always have at last two false starts before I settle into a sock pattern?”  Just asking……

I think I got smacked with the dummy stick between last night and now.  I just noticed about five minutes ago that the entry I worked so hard on yesterday was still in draft form, that’s right, folks, typed it, proofed it but didn’t bother to publish it.  So, the upshot of this is that today, there are two, count ’em, two entries today.  Jeez, sometimes I worry about myself :p

The one where two new

projects get posted, the En Point sweater from Interweave Knits and Swirl Socks in Araucania Yarns, Ranco Multy.  I’ve not knitted near as much I wanted to this weekend, but that’s pretty typical for me.  My reach far exceeds my grasp and so much yarn, so little time and all that.  Here’s a peek at both of them –

along with a Papoose pic

The one where it’s finally

Thursday evening and my work week is finished.  I’m so looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow and then going to get my hair done in the afternoon.  I’m in dire need of a cut and highlight and just some pampering.

I’m finishing the Celebration Socks tomorrow.  I’m half way through the last pattern repeat and I am so ready to finish them and fall in love with a new pair.  I’m pretty proud of my self just for persevering.  This pair has been a challenge, I’ll say that.

The one where a time

warp seems to have occurred, since I’m absolutely positive that it’s at least midnight and the my workday should be over, but my computer insists that is only 4:48 pm.   Unfortunately, I must stay here at work another 45 minutes.  I’m having yarn fantasies; Must.Hang.On.  I can do it!  8:41 pm, I did it!

The one where she owns

up to another vice – shoes.  Any shoes, boots, sandals, pumps, running, flats, wedges, stilettos, strappy, oxfords, loafers, thongs; I love them all.  I’m confessing this at this time because I received my latest acquisition last night, a pair of Chaco sandals, which I might add, are mindblowingly awesome and I can’t wait another minute to share

I’m told that admitting you have a problem is half the battle. : p  There will be others posted, trust me.

Still plugging along on the Celebration Socks, heels turned and in the home stretch on the leg.  They’ll be posted tomorrow for WIP Wednesday.  I’m still not crazy about them, but I’m motivated to finish them, just so I can start yet another addition to my sock wardrobe.  Any ideas?

The one where she’s aggravated

a little because she was too lazy to blog yesterday.  I know that if that’s the worst thing that’s happened in the last 48 hours, then I’ve got nothing really to bellyache about.  Nothing, zero perspiration, no sweat, zip.  I’m just way too compulsive about meeting arbitrary goals I set for myself.  Sigh.

On the flip side, I did a ton (or maybe a few pounds) of baking today and so for your viewing pleasure, here they are:

German Chocolate Cake

Pecan Pies

and what I’m calling Ooh Babies, a tweaked Hello Dollies

with recipe to follow tomorrow.  These received a two thumbs up from Mr. Iknead, by the way.

Minnowknit’s dress is blocking and I’m finally ready to cast on En Pointe sweater, but first, I’m taking a bath.
